A character from Maurice Howlett's Little Novel Of Italy. Wow. This is one of the most enchanting paintings I've ever seen! It has such Italian sunlight and fairy tale charm. :)

I love her gown and the town in the background, the rose in her hand...and the woman herself is beautiful and so realistic, like she's about reach out to hand you the rose. Love, love, love it. This is why I love your blog, Rosemary. Without it I'd never discover things like this. :-D
