I posted a painting of the same subject just a few days ago. How different they are! This one is (obviously) much darker. I think it's very original and memorable.

  1. I kinda like this one better than the other one. It's really depressing. And haunting. But also elegant. I love her dress.

  2. Ditto Anna, this is my favorite of the two. I like the lighting, and the setup, if that's the right word. I'm not exactly an expert on technical words for art. :-P Cool example of how different artists imagine the same scene.
The story is weird, but in an intriguing kind of way.

  3. Double ditto right here. I feel so original. -.-
But seriously, this is g o r g e o u s. I tend to like paintings with darker, smoother colors, so this is for me.

  6. Oh my goodness! If you look at the pot,and tilt your head a tiny bit, it looks like a skull in the darkened/glaze part. :O
Also, is that a flower by her feet?

  7. Aw, Katherine, you get a cookie! *Gives you cookie*

I think I see the skull too! I wonder if it was purposely painted like that. Yep, I'm pretty sure it's a white flower, like the ones up by the vase. I'd love to see this painting in person and be sure though!
