Not too Much to Carry

William Adolphe Bouguereau
(French, 1825-1905)
Fardeau Agreable (Not too Much to Carry), 1895
Oil on canvas

Bouguereau painted many paintings of children, but this one is probably my favorite. What sister doesn't have happy memories of when they were little enough for their big sister to carry them, or when their little sister was little enough to be carried? :)

  1. That is so sweet!
My sister and I always give each other piggyback rides, though we're only two years apart. It's especially fun when you're in the ocean or the pool, and you bend over backwards, and dunk them unexpectedly! teehee

  2. Haha!

I know this is totally unrelated, but every time I see the title of this painting I think of the scene at the end of The Return of the King where Sam carries Frodo up the mountain. *Eyes tear up* Yes, totally unrelated and nerdy of me.
